Dallas Wings vs Las Vegas Aces 8/25/20 - WNBA Picks & Predictions

The Las Vegas Aces meet up with the Dallas Wings as the Aces continue to climb up the standings in the WNBA bubble. Las Vegas has won four of their last five games capped off with an 82-74 win their last time out over Seattle; improving to 10-3 on the season. The Wings fell to 5-9 after a deflating 84-81 loss to the LA Sparks.

The Aces average 87.9 points per game this season leading the WNBA in scoring offense mostly due to their high pace of play. The Aces are shooting 48.1% from the field and 33.8% from beyond the arc, ranking 8th in team 3-point percentage. Their up-tempo style of play is complemented by A’ja Wilson, a center who can run the floor and is averaging 19.8 points per game and 8.8 rebounds, both team highs. Wilson is second in the WNBA in scoring.

The Wings offense is as one dimensional as any team in the WNBA coming in averaging 81.2 points per game ranking 10th in scoring offense. However, Arike Ogunbowale leads all the WNBA in scoring with 21.5 points per game taking almost 19 shots per game. Ogunbowale is shooting 42% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc.

With an offense like the Aces where four or five players can score the ball on any possession it puts a lot of pressure on all five defenders, the Wings defense comes in allowing opposing teams to score 84.6 points per game, the 7th ranked scoring defense in the WNBA. The Aces are allowing just 79.2 points per game and have held opponents to below 30% from beyond the arc, the best three-point defense in the WNBA this season.

The Wings offense is a tough team to figure out as it is based on Arike Ogunbowale’s performance on a game to game basis. With a defense as tough as the Aces’ matched up against a one-dimensional team, the Aces’ are going to take care of business in this one. That doesn’t even mention the league-leading scoring offense, dominant center A’ja Wilson or the matchup nightmare that the Aces present with 4 players averaging double figures. The Las Vegas Aces continue their success this season with a fifth win in the last six games, covering the spread in the process. Final score prediction, Aces win and cover ATS 86-74.
