Sun vs Aces Prediction

The Connecticut Sun (2-12) face the Las Vegas Aces (6-7) on June 25 at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Connecticut comes in on a brutal six-game losing streak, most recently falling to the Golden State Valkyries 87-63. Las Vegas snapped a three-game skid with a much-needed 89-81 win over Indiana. It’s a lopsided matchup on paper, but the Sun are desperate to win. Take the WNBA by storm with our WNBA picks.

Connecticut has lost eight of its last ten games and hasn’t looked competitive in weeks. The last time out, they shot just 36.1% from the field and got crushed on the boards 38-26. Tina Charles has been the lone bright spot, averaging 16.1 points per game on 42.9% shooting with an impressive 86.9% clip from the line. But without help and with Marina Mabrey questionable and Leila Lacan still out, the Sun are extremely limited offensively.

Defensively, things have been just as bad. The Sun are giving up 87.6 points per game and rank among the league's worst in field goal percentage allowed. They're getting outrebounded consistently and sit at just 30.6 boards per game. They’re also near the bottom in assists (16.9) and blocks (3.8), showing they’re not generating stops. Even with 7.0 steals per game, it’s not enough to offset all the defensive lapses.

The Aces snapped a losing streak Saturday by beating the Fever behind A’ja Wilson’s dominant outing. Wilson leads the team with 21.1 points per game, shooting 43.4% from the floor and 85.2% from the stripe. Las Vegas is still under .500 but has looked better in stretches, with solid scoring and experience. Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young give this team an edge in the backcourt, and playing at home gives them another advantage.

Defensively, Las Vegas is allowing 82.9 points per game, not the best, but good enough when they are playing well on offense. The Aces are pulling down 32.9 rebounds per contest and averaging 7.6 steals and 4.4 blocks per game. Injuries to Megan Gustafson and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus don’t impact the starting core. With depth and firepower intact, the Aces should control this game from the jump.

Sun vs Aces Pick Analysis

The Aces have the better offense, the deeper roster, and a healthy core, while the Sun are spiraling and undermanned. A’ja Wilson’s dominant play on offense and the Aces’ superior defensive stats (blocks, steals, and boards) will result in a win. Connecticut’s -15.8 scoring margin and a league-worst 38.9% field goal percentage say it all. Final Score Prediction: Las Vegas Aces win and cover 87-69.
