Both teams are looking to improve on recent performances with Chicago aiming to bounce back from a tough loss against New York and Washington seeking the first win of the season. Chicago Sky have had a rocky start to the season, currently sitting at 3-5 and 4th in the standings. Despite the struggles, the Sky have shown flashes of brilliance, particularly from Marina Mabrey who leads the team with 16.8 points per game and 4.8 assists per game. Mabrey's all-around performance, coupled with strong contributions from Angel Reese who averages 10.9 points and 6.8 rebounds, makes the Sky a formidable opponent.

However, shooting accuracy needs improvement, as they rank 10th in field goal percentage (40.7%).

On the other side, the Washington Mystics are still searching for a first win of the season, with a 0-9 record that places them at the bottom of the standings. Ariel Atkins leads the Mystics with 13.2 points per game, supported by Shakira Austin who contributes 11.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. The Mystics' offensive struggles are evident as they rank last in points per game (73) and rebounds per game (31.1). 

Defensively, they have not fared much better, ranking 12th in blocked shots per game (2.9) and turnovers per game (15.6). However offensively, Washington's free throw percentage (78.4%) and 3-point shooting percentage (31.9%) provide some hope, as they outperform Chicago in these categories.
