Chicago Sky at Phoenix Mercury 10/10/21 - WNBA Picks & Predictions

On Sunday, the Chicago Sky visit the Phoenix Mercury for Game 1 of the WNBA Finals best of five series. Chicago defeated Connecticut 4-1 in its semifinales series, culminating with a 79-69 victory over the Sun on Wednesday. This is the first time Chicago has reached the WNBA finals since 2014. Much of the success of Chicago this season has been thanks to Candace Parker, who joined the Sky during the offseason.

Phoenix reached the WNBA finals following an 87-84 victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Friday in Game 5 of their semifinals series. Phoenix was led in the victory by Diana Taurasi with 24 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter to help the Mercury rally to the victory. However, the final deciding factor came when Brittney Griner blocked a shot by A’ja Wilson with less than a second remaining to preserve the win for Phoenix.

During the postseason, Brittney Griner is the leading scorer and rebounder for Phoenix with averages of 21.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Diana Taurasi is the second-leading scorer with an average of 19.7 points per game. Skylar Diggins-Smith is the leader in assists with an average of 5.7 per game. Phoenix has four players averaging double-figures in scoring during the postseason.
