With the WNBA season paused for the Olympic break a few front runners have revealed themselves. The Seattle Storm have the best record in the league and are prepped to repeat as champions, but the Las Vegas Aces and Connecticut Suns are right on their trail.The WNBA season is setup for a potential finals repeat with the Storm and Aces battling for the #1 spot.
The Seattle Storm have the best record in the league and are led by former MVP Breanna Stewart and a first ballot hall of famer Sue Bird. Stewart is dominating the season thus far posting 20.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the reigning champs. Sue Bird in her 18th season is still one of the best floor generals in the league and runs this team like a well oiled machine.Jewel Lloyd chips in alot of the scoring as the second leading scorer from the 2020 title team. The Storm are the favorites to win and will go as far as Breanna Stewart can take them.
The Las Vegas Aces lost the WNBA finals last season to the Storm as MVP A'ja Wilson was unable to get it done. Liz Camabge has returned in 2021 for the Aces after sitting out the 2020 season due to the Covid pandemic. With Cabbage back on the floor the Aces have a one two punch unlike any other team in the league. Wilson and Cambage can each put up big numbers offensively and protect the rim and paint without a hitch. There is a lot of promise and value in Las Vegas as the Aces push to get back to the Finals.
A dark horse in the bid to win it all is the Washington Mystics who started the season with odds in the top 3 to win it all. With Elena Delle Donne has been injured this year and missed the Olympics in an effort to rehab. With the expected return of Delle Donne in the second half of the year instantly gives the Mystics a real shot at pushing for a title. At +1500 and the expected return of a former MVP the Mystics are worth a look.
The Las Vegas Aces fell in the 2020 finals without one of their best players. Liz Cambage has returned and sets the Aces up for another Finals showdown. With the 2020 league MVP A'ja Wilson leading the way Las Vegas has made huge strides this season as they chase the title.
