Philadelphia Stars - 2022 USFL Season Preview

The Philadelphia Stars head into the USFL season optimistic with a lot of unanswered questions. Philadelphia starts the year at a disadvantage with one of the least experienced coaches in the league. Despite multiple teams having former NFL or Division One college head coaches Philadelphia has a coach that has never been more than a high level assistant. Bart Andrus willl be at the helm for Philadelphia this season having worked at multiple different colleges throughout the NAIA as well as a quality control coach before being a quarterback coach with the Tennessee Titans.

Quarterback Brian Scott will be leaned on heavily this season to make up for his coaches’ lack of knowledge in order to find success for his team. Scott had multiple shots at the NFL but eventually settled as a CFL practice team player. Scott did however shine in the spring league winning the MVP twice after throwing for 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns in a season.

Philadelphia is riddled with players from the TSL Generals of the Spring League as the other quarterback on the roster Case Cookus as well as running back Darnell Holland two wide receivers and two offensive linemen come from the same team. The biggest positive coming into the season for Philadelphia is the bulk of their offensive core is accustomed to playing with each other so the learning curve will happen quickly.

The Generals stretch to the Philadelphia defense as well as Carroll Phillips is expected to make an instant impact for Philadelphia as an edge rusher. Defensively Philadelphia will have several different players with NFL experience to lean on across the field. Not only do the Stars have experienced from the NFL defensively but several different players suited up in the CFL as well as various practice squads prepping them to lead Philadelphia this season.
