The final week of the USFL season will take place on Father’s Day as the New Orleans Breakers take on the Houston Gamblers. New Orleans comes into week 10 with a record of 6-3 on the year following a 17-6 win over the Tampa Bay Bandits. Defensively New Orleans had issues against Tampa Bay allowing the Bandits to gain 352 total yards but forced four turnovers leading to the victory.
Offensively New Orleans accumulated 215 total yards of offense as 130 of them were on the ground. New Orleans relied on a 2 quarterback set combining to complete 12 of 20 passes for 99 total yards and one touchdown. Anthony Jones led the way for the New Orleans rushing attack with 59 yards on 11 carries, while Jordan Ellis added 45 yards and one score on 14 touches.
The Houston Gamblers come into the final week of the season riding high despite carrying an abysmal record. Houston is 2-7 on the year following a two point win a week ago giving Birmingham their first loss of the year. Defensively Houston did just enough against Birmingham holding the Stallions to 329 yards of offense to score only 15 points in the game.
Offensively Houston did not play well with 187 total yards of offense as their time of possession was just under 26 minutes. Kenji Bahar had possibly his best game of the season completing 16 of 24 passes for 164 yards and one touchdown, while running the ball six times for 36 yards as well.
New Orleans comes into the final week of the season looking to tweak their weaknesses and prep for the postseason. The Breakers have already secured a spot in the postseason and will look to roll against one of the worst teams in the league.
