New Jersey Generals at Philadelphia Stars 5/1/22 - USFL Picks & Predictions
The New Jersey Generals will face off against the Philadelphia Stars on Sunday for a scheduled kick off of week three of the USFL at 8 p.m. eastern time. This game will be available on peacock. New Jersey has a record on the season of 1-1 and played one of the more boring matchups in the USFL this season against Michigan last week by the score of 10–6. Looking for some kind of fire power, New Jersey used both their starter and backup quarterback in the matchup.
DeAndre Johnson was the savior for New Jersey in the game against Michigan going five of six, not throwing an interception, with a QBR rating of 100 however only passed for 48 yards. Johnson had 27 yards on 10 attempts rushing the ball in the Michigan game.
For Philadelphia, they have a record of 1-1 as well however had a much different experience last week in their game against Pittsburgh in which Bryan Scott went 26 of 36 passing for 272 yards and three touchdowns with a total QBR of 110.0 Maurice Alexander was his favorite target catching eight balls for over 80 yards and two touchdowns. Philadelphia put up 30 points in the game against Pittsburgh.
The only problem I'm seeing for Philadelphia is in three weeks of play, they only have three total sacks on defense, which is why the Pittsburgh Maulers were able to put up 23 points in that match up last week.
Even though the defense is suspect at best for Philadelphia, the cohesiveness between quarterback Bryan Scott and wide receiver Maurice Alexander is one of the more dangerous weapons in the USFL. We see Philadelphia coming away with a victory in this match up. Final Score Prediction: Philadelphia wins 24–21.
