The second game of a week ten USFL Saturday doubleheader will feature a matchup between the Birmingham Stallions and the Tampa Bay Bandits. The Stallions (8-1) have wrapped up the South Division and lead the league in scoring differential for head coach Skip Holtz. Last week, Birmingham outgained Houston by 142 total yards during a 17-15 loss.
Birmingham took a 13-12 lead with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter on a 33-yard touchdown pass from J’Mar Smith to Adrian Hardy. Smith threw a game-sealing interception with 82 seconds remaining.
The Tampa Bay Bandits have been eliminated from postseason contention and are the second lowest scoring team in the league. On Sunday, Tampa Bay failed to score through the first three quarters of a 17-6 loss against New Orleans. The Bandits (4-5) outgained the Breakers by a 265-85 yard margin, but turned the ball over four times in defeat.
Tampa Bay’s only score came on a 31 yard-touchdown strike from Jordan Ta’amu to Rashard Davis. Ta’amu finished with 288 yards through the air to go along with 86 yards on the ground.
Tampa Bay has one of the better passing attacks in the league and Ta’Amu leads the league with 12 passing touchdowns.
