Rafael Nadal vs. Daniil Medvedev 1/30/22 - Australian Open Men Singles Picks & Predictions

Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal has made it into the 2022 ATP Australian Open final at Melbourne Park. At this stage of the tournament, Rafael Nadal is set to play against Daniil Medvedev from Russia.

Rafael Nadal enters this match having defeated his previous opponent in 4 sets. It was a comfortable win for Nadal for most of the match but the Spaniard was beaten during the third set of the match. The final of a Grand Slam event is always huge for any player but this is potentially a historic match for Rafa as he has the chance to pass both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer in the total number of Grand Slam titles. It has been a solid tournament for Rafael Nadal but this win won’t come easy as he is playing against the highest ranked player in the tournament in Daniil Medvedev.

Looking at Daniil Medvedev, the Russian superstar has established himself as one of the top few players in the ATP tour over the past 2 years. The Russian superstar looked in good touch in the previous round where he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in 4 sets. Medvedev won the US Open last season so he will feel confident with that experience under his belt. Nadal is always a tough player to face but Daniil Medvedev will feel confident in his ability.

Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal have played each other 4 times in the past. Nadal has won on 3 occasions while Medvedev has won just once. The most recent match between these two players was in 2020 at the ATP Finals where Daniil Medvedev won in 3 sets.

This should be a close match between two elite players. With that in mind, I am going to predict that Daniil Medvedev wins this match. Medvedev is the stronger player and he has been playing at a different level over the past few months. This should be a close match but I am predicting that Daniil Medvedev wins in 5 sets.
