Spanish tennis superstar, Rafael Nadal has made it into the second round of the 2020 ATP Australian Open at Melbourne Park. At this stage of the tournament, Rafa is set to play against Michael Mmoh from the United States.
Michael Mmoh enters this tournament having made it through the qualifying event. Michael Mmoh looked strong during the qualifiers and continued his good form by winning his opening round match. It was an extremely close match with Michael Mmoh winning in 5 sets, with 3 tiebreakers being played. Following such a close win, Mmoh will be confident but it is still going to be very tough for the American to compete in this match as he is playing against the number 2 seed.
Looking at Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard looked very strong in the opening round as he won his opening match in straight sets against Laslo Dere. The receiving was very strong from Rafa as he won close to 50% of his receiving points which allowed him to break his opponent’s serve on 5 occasions. The serving was also strong as Rafa won over 90% of his service games. This is the first tournament of the season for Rafael Nadal and while a lack of preparation may have been a problem for most players, the number 2 seed has looked very strong and is already playing near his best. Considering his form in the opening round. Rafa is going to be very tough to stop in this match.
This will be the first time that Rafael Nadal and Michael Mmoh will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Michael Mmoh is a promising player but I don’t see the American having what it takes to compete with the elite players in the world. I see Rafa being too strong in this match. I am predicting that Rafael Nadal will win this match in straight sets.
