Iga Swiatek vs. Jessica Pegula 6/1/22 - French Open Women Singles Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 05/31/2022 at 12:30 PM ET

Polish tennis superstar, Iga Swiatek has made it into the quarterfinals at the 2022 WTA French Open in Paris. At this stage of the tournament, Iga Swiatek is set to play against Jessica Pegula from the United States.

Iga Swiatek has been very impressive over the past few months as she has won every tournament she has played since the Dubai Tennis Championship. During this streak, Swiatek has won 5 tournaments including the Italian Open, Miami Open and Indian Wells Open. In the most recent round, Iga Swiatek defeated Qinwen Zheng from China. That match had a shaky start for Swiatek but the Polish superstar fought back strongly to win in 3 sets. During the win, Swiatek impressed with her receiving as she won over 50% of her receiving points which allowed her to break her opponent’s serve on 7 occasions. Swiatek is looking in immense form and will be very tough to beat in this tournament.

On the other side of the coin, Jessica Pegula has also looked very impressive during this tournament. Pegula enters this match having won her previous outing in 3 sets. It was a solid performance by the American as she won 12 service games and 4 return games to comfortably get the victory. Pegula has played well this season as she made the final of the Madrid Open. That being said, this is expected to be a very tough match for Jessica Pegula as she is playing against the top seed at this tournament.

Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula have played each other twice in the past with both players winning on 1 occasion. The most recent match between these two players was earlier in the season at WTA Miami where Iga Swiatek won in straight sets.

Looking at all the information, we are going to pick Iga Swiatek to win this match. Jessica Pegula is a solid player but we don't see her having what it takes to challenge the top players in the world. Iga Swiatek has been in tremendous form and we see her being good enough to win in straight sets.
