German tennis giant Alexander Zverev is set to play at the 2020 ATP French Open at Roland Garros in Paris. Zverev will begin his tournament against Dennis Novak from Austria.
Dennis Novak last played at the Austrian Open where he was eliminated in the opening round. It has been a very disappointing few months for Novak as he has struggled since the return of the ATP tour. Dennis Novak failed to qualify for the Cincinnati Masters and was eliminated in the opening round of the US Open. This is expected to be another tough tournament for Dennis Novak as he looks very low on confidence and he is starting his campaign against the number 6 seed.
On the other side of the coin, Alexander Zverev enters this tournament with lots of confidence as the German finished runners-up at the US Open. Zverev was outstanding during the US Open and will feel unlucky that he didn’t win the title as the final was a very close match. Alexander Zverev has not played since the completion of the US Open with the German opting to rest rather than play at the Italian Open. In general, 2020 has been a very strong season for Alexander Zverev as he also made the semifinals of the Australian Open earlier in the year. While Zverev will enter this tournament with no clay court tennis under his belt, the German should still be optimistic as he played very well at the US Open and looks in very strong form.
This will be the first time that Alexander Zverev and Dennis Novak will be playing each other at an ATP tournament.
With all the information taken into consideration, I see this being an easy match for Alexander Zverev. Novak has struggled in recent weeks and he is playing one of the hottest players of the ATP tour. Alexander Zverev is playing his best tennis and I see the German being good enough to win this match in straight sets.
