Schalke have been really awful in recent months, and even more so after the pandemic break. They will now return home for their next assignment, where they will play host to Werder Bremen. Werder Bremen have also been struggling all season but they have looked slightly better lately.

They have been quite hard to beat at home (5-3-6), but again, they have won just once there in their last eight matches in all competitions.

Werder Bremen (5-15-7) are finally showing some signs of life lately, as they are coming off a hard-fought draw at home against Gladbach. Last week they beat Freiburg by 1-0 on the road but they still need to win as much as they can in the remaining matches. They are sitting at the 17th spot of the league table with 22 points, six below the red line. Werder Bremen have actually done much better on the road than they have at home, featuring a 4-6-4 record. However, they have won just one of their last five away matches in all competitions (1-3-1).
