Kansas City failed to sit at the top of the Western Conference after a tough loss to Real Salt Lake in the final match-day. They will now clash against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first round of playoffs. Vancouver did a great job to take a point from their match against Seattle, and just barely made it into the playoffs.

Sporting Kansas City could have sat at the top of the Western Conference but they lost each of their last 3 matches of the regular season and had to settle for the 3rd spot. In their last match they lost at home to Real Salt Lake by 1-0, in a match where they conceded the only goal at the stoppage time. Even so, Kansas City finished 3rd with a 17-10-7 record, scoring 58 and conceding 40 goals. 21 of their 34 matches had Over 2.5 Goals, with an average of 2.9 goals per match. They were really hard to beat at home (9-3-5), scoring 32 and conceding 17 goals in the process. 9 of their 17 home matches had Over 2.5 goals, with an average of 2.9 goals per match.

Vancouver made an excellent second half of the regular season, and even remained unbeaten in their last 6 (3-0-3) in order to grab a playoff ticket at the last moment. In their last match they played for a 1-1 draw at home against Seattle, which was the 7th consecutive match with BTTS. Vancouver finished the regular season at the 6th spot of the Western Conference with a 12-9-13 record, scoring 45 and conceding 45 goals. 20 of their 34 matches had Over 2.5 Goals, with an average of 2.6 goals per match. Vancouver struggled to get wins on the road, but they had the most away draws in the Conference (2-5-10). 10 of their 17 away matches had Over 2.5 Goals, with an average of 2.8 goals per match.

The two teams exchanged home wins in the regular season, with Kansas City wining by 3-o in this venue before losing by 2-1 on the road. However, that was their only loss in the last 8 matches against Vancouver (5-1-2). Moreover, Kansas City have been excellent as hosts against Vancouver over the years (6-1-3). But Kansas have been struggling a lot lately, while Vancouver have been in much better form. Slight lean on the visitors here.
