West Ham United hosts Tottenham Hotspur in Week 5 of the Premier League season on Aug. 31.
The Hammers made a big move Monday signing Brazilian Lucas Paquetá for a record fee from Olympique Lyonnais. This news came a day after West Ham got its first goal and first points of the season with a 1-0 win at Aston Villa. Pablo Fornals scored the lone goal of the match in the 74th minute off a Declan Rice assist. The Hammers and are now 1-0-3.
Tottenham has started the season 3-1-0 behind the stellar play of veteran Harry Kane, who was the star again in Week 4 at Nottingham Forest. Kane scored for the third and fourth time this season as he led Tottenham to a 2-0 victory Sunday.
Tottenham has won 25 of the 52 Premier League fixtures against West Ham with 10 draws. The clubs split a season ago as Tottenham won 3-1 at home in March and West Ham claimed victory in London 1-0 in October.
Tottenham is off to an excellent start to the 2022-23 season with 10 points to join Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion just two points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table. We like Spurs to continue that success at West Ham United behind another top effort from Kane. It remains to be seen how Paquetá will fit in with his new club if he plays in this one.
