The quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup have produced yet another London Derby, as Arsenal will now play host to Tottenham on Wednesday. The Gunners saw their undefeated streak come to an end after a tough away loss against Southampton over the weekend. Tottenham have been in much better shape lately and are coming into this match on an undefeated streak.

Arsenal are coming into this match after a really frustrating 2-3 loss on the road against Southampton, in a match where they had a ton of absences. They used a makeshift defense due to a long list of injuries and had to come back twice in that match, but eventually conceded a late goal that stopped their undefeated streak to 23 matches in all competitions. In the previous round of the Carabao Cup they overcame Blackpool by 1-2. However, it was not a very easy match despite taking a two-goal lead by the start of the second half. They were left with 10 men at the 56th minute and their opponents scored at the 66th. But Arsenal withstood the pressure and will now host a much harder opponent in Tottenham. Tottenham were on track for a pretty easy match at home against Burnley last week but the truth is that they struggled a bit. They were actually the better team throughout the whole match but were really unlucky with their shots. They eventually scored the winning goal at the stoppage time to win by an anxious 0-1. In their last match for the Carabao Cup they didn’t have that much of a problem, as they blasted West Ham by 3-1 on the road. Tottenham were already leading by two goals by the start of the second half and went on to record a comfortable win. They have been really strong on the road over the past three months, losing just one of their ten matches in all competitions in that span (7-1-2).

Arsenal should have the upper hand in this venue but they have a long list of injury concerns and so do Tottenham. Arsenal have been dominant as hosts against Tottenham in the past couple of decades losing just once in that span (16-1-8). Now both teams are really struggling with injuries at this point and we will surely see the two coaches shuffling the decks here. This can quickly turn into a goal-fest.
