The time has finally come for the return of the MLS, as the 2019 season kicks off on Saturday. Philadelphia Union will take on Toronto FC in the premiere, and both team will look to do much better this season.

Philadelphia Union were not very bad last season but they lacked consistency overall. They looked depleted in the final matches of the regular season and finished at the 6th spot of the Eastern Conference (15-14-5), making the playoffs. They did lost to NYCFC by 1-3 in the knock-out round and were eliminated. Philadelphia Union were mediocre at home last season (9-6-2), with just 7 of their 17 home matches featuring Over 2.5 Goals. Toronto FC had an even worse season, which was a really big surprise. The problem started at the early stages of the MLS season, as Toronto FC were caught up in CONCACAF Champions League matches. They lost in the final of the competition but were never really able to get it right in the MLS. They finished at the 9th spot, a whole 14 points behind the playoff spots. They were also one of the worst away teams in the Conference, winning just two of their 17 away matches.

Toronto FC were excellent in this match-up last season, winning both matches against Philadelphia with clean sheets. They are undefeated in the last ten against Philadelphia Union and have won three of their last four here. But they were weakened in the transfer window while Philadelphia were reinforced, so I will go with the hosts here.
