Chicago Fire failed to win in their last match and are now in a tough spot regarding the playoff chase. They will now return home, where they will play host to Toronto on Sunday. Toronto are coming off a really unlucky performance in the Canadian Championship final, but they have already booked their ticket to the playoffs.
Toronto (12-10-10) are coming off a horrible penalty shootout against Montreal in the Canadian Championship final, where they missed three times and eventually lost. Last week they grabbed a 1-1 draw on the road against Los Angeles FC and they have lost just once in their last 12 matches in all competitions (5-1-6). Toronto are currently 6th in the East with 46 points, four ahead of New England, one behind the Red Bulls and two behind DC United.
Chicago Fire (9-12-11) were not very effective in their away match against Cincinnati and missed a chance to get three points against the weakest team in the MLS. Even so, that goal-less draw means that Chicago have lost just once in their last five (2-1-2). They are sitting at the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference with 38 points, four behind New England and the last playoff spot. Chicago have been really hard to beat at home (8-2-6) and have won each of their last three.
