On Thursday, Swiss team Thun will play their second game in the Europa League against Czech team Sparta Prague.
Sparta Prague showed its quality and experience and won 3-1 the first game on the home soil. Despite of the bad start and trailing 1-0 after five minutes, Sparta scored two quick goals just before the half time. Later in the second half both teams had several chances but it was the Czech team that scored in added time and decided about their 3-1 victory.
Moreover, Sparta travelled to Thun without their two key players Lukas Vacha and Marek Matejovsky. Vacha is injured with his knee and will miss several months while Matejovsky is suspended due to red card from the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
Zdenek Scastny, Sparta’s coach, mentioned that his team would have to adjust and play without them. He said that he would use the same formation and system when beating Dukla Prague 2-0 last week. He added that the opponent plays very aggressively, is fast and creates pressure when defending, therefore his team can’t only play defensive football.
Furthermore, Sparta is a current leader in the Czech top league after winning four and drawing one games from five while Thun sits seventh with two wins and four losses from six games.
To summarize, Sparta is very close to making group stage in the Europa League. The result from the first game helped the team mentally. Final game prediction, Sparta will draw 1-1 in Thun.
