Sporting KC have very few chances to make the playoffs after their recent results. They will now look to deplete their chances when they will travel to Minnesota on Wednesday. Minnesota United are much more comfortable at this point but still haven’t clinched their playoff spot.
Sporting KC (10-14-7) are coming off a really frustrating 3-2 loss at home against Colorado. They even took a two-goal lead in that match but fell apart in the second half. That was their third consecutive loss, conceding 12 goals in that span. Sporting KC are now sitting at the penultimate spot of the Western Conference with 37 points, seven behind the playoffs and with very few chances to make it. They haven’t been any good on the road either (3-8-4), losing four of their last five.
Minnesota United (14-10-7) should be feeling lucky they escaped Portland with a point from that goal-less draw. They have struggled to record wins lately, with just two in their last seven matches in all competitions (2-3-2). Minnesota United are now sitting at the 3rd spot of the Western Conference with 49 points, one ahead of the LA Galaxy and one behind Seattle. They have been really hard to beat at home (9-1-5), but have kept just one clean sheet in their last four home matches (3-0-1).
