Sevilla at Villarreal 2/17/19 - La Liga Picks & Predictions

Both Villarreal and Sevilla are coming off crucial mid-week away wins in the Europa League. The two teams will now clash against one another on Sunday, when Villarreal will play host for the 24th round of the La Liga. Both teams had really tough matches to play but they both performed greatly.

Villarreal (3-9-11) scored an early goal against Sporting Lisbon and then proceeded to hold on to their lead for the final 1-0. But they have not been in very good form lately, pretty mediocre actually, with just a win (and a loss) in their last five (1-1-3). They have now slid to the 19th spot of the league table with 20 points, already four below the relegation zone. They have struggled all over the place and have won just once at home so far (1-5-6). But they were participating in three different competitions until recently and that took its toll on the roster. Sevilla (10-6-7) did a similar job against Lazio in their own Europa League affair, scoring at the 10th minute and just sat on the result. That was their first win after a small, three-match win-less streak (0-2-1). Sevilla are still sitting 4th in the La Liga with 37 points, just one ahead of Getafe and also eight behind Real Madrid. Sevilla have been mediocre on the road so far (3-5-4), losing four of their last five away matches and scoring just once in the process.
