Costa Rica drove everyone crazy in the previous World Cup, when they showed us some amazing things. They will now look to repeat that success, when they will start their duties against Serbia on Sunday. Serbia have a pretty solid squad and even though they are capable of greatness, they are also prone to very bad matches.
Costa Rica were truly impressive in the 2014 World Cup. Everyone expected them to finish at the bottom of their respective group that also featured Uruguay, Italy and England. However, Costa Rica not only topped that group, but they did so without even losing (2-0-1). They were eventually eliminated at the quarter-finals against the Netherlands. This time around they have a pretty similar team, with Keylor Navas, Bryan Ruiz, Joel Campbell and Celso Borges ready to carry their team.
Serbia came in this World Cup with a really great squad, and they will look to follow Brazil to the next stage. They have more than enough talent in the midfield and offense, with players like Matic, Milinkovic-Savic, Tadic and Ljajic. Moreover, their defense will be safeguarded by Basta, Kolarov and Ivanovic, with all those players having a lot of experience in Europe’s top competitions. However, they don’t have a very experienced coach, and that might cost them in the long run.
