Seattle Sounders at San Jose Earthquakes 5/12/21 - MLS Picks & Predictions

We got a really interesting match-up in the MLS on Wednesday, when Western Conference leaders Seattle will be hosted by 2nd-placed San Jose. Both teams are coming off away wins by the same scoreline and are both looking to remain at the top of the standings, so this is going to be interesting.

San Jose (3-1-0) are coming into this match after a really nice performance, and a win by 2-1 on the road against Real Salt Lake. They conceded an early goal in that match and were down for almost the entire show, but the evergreen Chris Wondolowski subbed into that match and scored twice in quick succession to grab all three points for San Jose. While their offense is great (they scored in all matches), their defense is struggling, as both teams scored in all four matches so far .

Seattle (3-0-1) played a really good match on the road against Portland, proving once again that this match-up does NOT favor whoever is hosting. Seattle had a close call at the start of the second half when the Timbers missed on a penalty kick, but Ruidiaz did not miss on his own penalty kick at the 63rd minute. They went on to score another goal shortly after, before conceding a late (and harmless) goal for the final 2-1 win. Seattle kept clean sheets in both home matches, but both teams scored in both their away matches so far.
