Seattle Sounders -0.5 (+106)
Reigning champions Seattle Sounders will look to pick up where they left off in the start of the season, and will have a great chance to do so, as they are clashing against the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday. San Jose did not make a very good start, conceding a ton of goals in two matches and showing some big defensive gaps really early in the season.
The Sounders started the season with a tough win over Chicago at home, where they scored a really late goal to eventually win by 1-2. In their next match they hosted Columbus, where again they conceded the first goal but came back to seal just one point from that 1-1 draw. They have now been undefeated in their last eight MLS matches (6-0-2), mostly due to their performances in the second halves of their matches. Moreover, they managed to get points in each of the last three matches that they conceded first (2-0-1).
San Jose came back from two goals behind to secure a 2-2 home draw against Toronto in the opener. Their equalizing goal came deep inside the stoppage time, but it did the trick. However, they followed up with a really heavy loss at home against Minnesota United, who scored four first-half goals to eventually force them to a massive 5-2 loss at home. That means that there were goals from both sides in each of San Jose’s last seven matches for the MLS.
Seattle won b 1-0 on the road last season, after a 2-2 draw at home. They have been excellent in this match-up in recent years, going undefeated in the last nine MLS matches against San Jose (5-0-4). We could be looking at goals from both sides here, but it’s the Sounders who have the upper hand.
