The timing couldn’t have been worse for an El Clasico derby that will take place in Barcelona on Saturday. Barcelona are coming off a loss in the La Liga too, but they washed that off with a nice mid-week win in the Champions League.

Barcelona (2-1-1) were clearly distracted in their away match against Getafe, as they lost by 1-0 while making a huge rotation in their line-up. But they did a solid job in the 1-5 against Ferencvaros mid-week. Barcelona have now won three of their five matches in the season. They are sitting at the 10th spot of the La Liga with 7 points, scoring seven and conceding two goals in the process. At home they beat Villarreal by a massive 0-4 before a 1-1 draw against Sevilla.

Real Madrid (3-1-1) are coming off a really humiliating loss in the Champions League mid-week, where they fell by 3-2 at home against a covid-ridden Shakhtar Donetsk side. Prior to that they also lost to Cadiz by 1-0 at home, in a match where they could have easily conceded two ore more goals. Real Madrid are now sitting 3rd in the La Liga with 10 points, scoring six and conceding three goals in the process. So far on the road they have a goal-less draw against Real Sociedad, and two wins against Betins (3-2) and Levante (2-0).
