Sampdoria at SPAL 5/20/18 - Serie A Picks & Predictions

SPAL came into the Serie A this season looking to stay decent, at the least. They have been quite feisty at home so far, and they will now fight for survival in their last match of the season. They will play host to Sampdoria on Sunday, who lost three of their last four matches and are now unable to challenge for a European ticket.

SPAL (7-16-14) are coming off a really frustrating 1-2 loss on the road against Torino, in a match that was really important for them. They actually took the lead at the 22nd minute of that match, but they saw their oponents overturn that lead at the 86th minute for the final 1-2. SPAL had won each of their previous two matches, and have actually been in really solid form since mid-February (4-2-6). They are sitting at the 17th spot of the Serie A with 35 points, just as many as Crotone who are below the red line. Sampdoria (16-15-4) were really interested in finishing in the top-seven this season, but they weren't really good lately. They are coming off a tough loss at home, where they fell against Napoli by 2-0. That was their third loss in their last four, as Sampdoria have won just three matches over the past couple of months. As a result they are now sitting at the 9th spot of the Serie A with 54 points, six points behind Atalanta and the 7th spot that leads to the Europa League next season.
