Two teams that are in totally opposite forms will lock horns on Thursday, when Germany will play host to Russia in an international friendly. One would expect Germany to be in good form and Russia to struggle, but the truth is that it is the other way around.

Germany are coming off a catastrophic run in the World Cup where they were eliminated in humiliation. But that didn’t seem to teach them a lesson, as Germany have been equally bad in the UEFA Nations League as well. They started off with a goal-less draw against France, but met two really frustrating losses after that. First came a tough 0-3 loss on the road against the Netherlands and after that came an equally frustrating 1-2 loss on the road against France. Needless to say that Germany are now sitting dead last in their group. Russia started off with a nice 2-1 away win against Turkey in what was a really balanced match between the two sides. After that they played for a goal-less draw at home against Sweden in another balanced match. Next up it was their turn to host Turkey and guess what, they played another balanced match but actually won that by 0-2. They scored a goal in each half and are now comfortably leading their group with 7 points, with Turkey sitting at 3 and Sweden with 1.
