Barcelona will see off the season with a home match, where they will play host to Real Sociedad on Sunday. Barcelona have captured the domestic double this season, while Real Sociedad failed to grab a European ticket for next season.
Barcelona (27-1-9) failed to keep their undefeated status intact this season, when they suffered a spectacular 4-5 loss on the road against Levante last week. That was a match that had it all, and where Barcelona found themselves down by 1-5 by the 56th minute. They did manage to score three more goals to mitigate the loss, but it was a spectacular and quite physical match. Barcelona will now see off the season in front of their own home crowd, so a win is in order.
Real Sociedad (14-16-7) are also coming off a goal-fest, as they defeated Leganes by 2-3 at home last week. They took an early two goal lead by the 25th minute, but their opponents pulled even by the 53rd. Even so, Real Sociedad scored the winning goal at the 78th minute from the penalty spot. That was actually their fifth win in their last seven, but it didn’t change a thing. Real Sociedad are now sitting at the 10th spot of the league table with 49 points, six behind the top-seven spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season.
