Barcelona (27-1-9) failed to keep their undefeated status intact this season, when they suffered a spectacular 4-5 loss on the road against Levante last week. Real Sociedad (14-16-7) are also coming off a goal-fest, as they defeated Leganes by 2-3 at home last week. They took an early two goal lead by the 25th minute, but their opponents pulled even by the 53rd. Even so, Real Sociedad scored the winning goal at the 78th minute from the penalty spot. That was actually their fifth win in their last seven, but it didn’t change a thing. Real Sociedad are now sitting at the 10th spot of the league table with 49 points, six behind the top-seven spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season.
