LAFC made a promising start in the new season but were held in check in New York last week. They will now have a pretty easy job on Saturday when they will host Real Salt Lake. Real Salt Lake are coming off a massive loss against DC United and have looked mediocre at best so far.

LAFC (2-0-1) fought really hard to avoid the loss against New York City FC last week. Their opponents took the lead twice in that match but Vela was in excellent form and pulled back even on both occasions for the final 2-2. Prior to that they won both home matches to start the season, against Portland and Sporting KC. LAFC are now sitting at the 2nd spot of the Western Conference with 7 points, just as many as Houston. Real Salt Lake (1-1-1) met a devastating loss on the road against DC United, where they fell by a huge 0-5. Wayne Rooney destroyed their defenses with three goals and an assist, while Real Salt Lake finished the match with just nine players on the pitch. The weren’t bad in their previous two matches, where they grabbed four points. Real Salt Lake are now 8th in the Western Conference with 4 points, having scored just two goals against six conceded.
