The LA Galaxy did a great job in the 4th round of the US Open Cup, when they easily overcame a semi-pro Golden State Force side. They will now remain at home for their next assignment, where they will play host to Real Salt Lake on Saturday. Real Salt Lake suffered a tough elimination in the US Open Cup, as they were up against Sporting Kansas City.
The LA Galaxy (5-7-2) had absolutely no problem in overcoming a much weaker side in the US Open Cup. They comfortably won that match by 1-3, and have actually been in pretty good form lately (3-1-1). They are now sitting at the 8th spot of the Western Conference with 17 points, just three points behind the playoff spots. They have been hit-or-miss at home so far in the season (3-4-0), where they have kept just a single clean sheet and have conceded more goals than they have scored.
Real Salt Lake (7-6-1) were really unlucky with the draw for the 4th round of the US Open Cup. They got Sporting Kansas City in the draw, and just failed to be competitive when they fell by 2-0 at home. However, they had won each of their previous three without conceding a single goal. Real Salt Lake are now sitting at the 3rd spot of the Western Conference with 22 points, four behind FC Dallas and one ahead of LAFC and Portland. Real Salt Lake have been really weak on the road so far (1-5-1), where they have scored just 5 goals, while conceding 17 in the process.
