Real Madrid are gearing up for the Champions League final in about a week, but before that happens they will have to play their final league match of the season. They will be hosted by Villarreal on Saturday, with both teams having booked European tickets for next season.
Villarreal (18-13-6) are coming of a spectacular match on the road against Deportivo La Coruna last week, whom they defeated by 4-2. They were great in that match, as they took an early three-goal lead. Villarreal have been in great shape lately, as they have won four of their last five, but keeping just a single clean sheet in the process. They are now sitting at the 5th spot of the La Liga with 60 points, just as many as Betis below them. Their ticket to the Europa League group stage is certain, so they will play European soccer no matter what they do against Real Madrid.
Real Madrid (22-6-9) were coming off a three-match win-less streak when they hosted Celta last week. They really needed a dominant performance in order to bring some good psychology in their ranks, and they did exactly that. They destroyed Celta by a massive 0-6 at home, and are now gearing up for the Champions League final. However, that was their first clean sheet after nine consecutive matches that they've conceded at least once. Real Madrid are still sitting at the 3rd spot of the league table with 75 points, three behind Atletico Madrid.
