Two teams that started the new year with unsuccessful results will now lock horns on Sunday when Betis will host Real Madrid. Betis are really competitive at home and can easily challenge Real Madrid for at least one point here. Real Madrid started 2019 with a couple of really bad results but bounced back with a nice win in the Copa del Rey.

Betis (7-6-5) were not able to take any advantage from the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie against Real Sociedad where they were held to a goal-less draw at home. In their last league match they met a really tough loss as they fell by 1-2 on the road against newcomers Huesca. Betis have been struggling to get results lately, but have still lost just once in their last nine matches in all competitions. They have been quite strong at home so far in the league (4-2-3), and also have three wins and two draws there for other competitions. Moreover, Betis are now undefeated in their last eight home matches in all competitions and kept five clean sheets in their last six. Real Madrid (9-6-3) met a devastating home loss in their last match for the La Liga, as they fell at home by 2-0 against Real Sociedad. Prior to that they were held to a 2-2 draw against Villarreal, but they did bounce back in their last match. They blasted Leganes by 0-3 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie in their last match and fained some confidence. When it comes to the La Liga, Real Madrid are now sitting at the 5th spot of the La Liga with 30 points, four ahead of their upcoming opponents and just one point behind Alaves. They have been pretty poor on the road so far in the league (3-4-2), where they also have three more wins and a loss in other competitions.
