This is the time for the second semi-final of the Champions League, and what an impressive match-up it is. Bayern Munich got Real Madrid in the draw, and they will now play host on Wednesday, looking to break the spell against Spanish teams. They have been eliminated by Spanish opponents in each of the last four seasons, and they will surely be looking to fix that.

Bayern Munich had a somewhat easy job in the quarter-finals, at least compared to other teams. They were up against Sevilla, and pretty much booked their ticket from the first leg on the road where they won by 2-1. They didn't have to make a big effort in the second leg, as a goal-less draw was more than enough to see them through. Bayern are appearing in the Champions League semi-finals for the 11th time, level with Barcelona and fewer only than Real Madrid, who are in the last four for the 13th time. Bayern Munich have lost their last three semi-finals, having won the previous four. Bayern's record in two-legged ties against Spanish sides is W10 L10; they beat Sevilla FC in this season's quarter-finals (2-1 away, 0-0 home).
Real Madrid almost suffered a heart-attack in the previous round against Juventus, despite winning the first leg on the road by 3-0. They saw Juventus score three goals in Madrid and bringing this tie back to zero, but Real Madrid were awarded quite the controversial penalty kick in the stoppage time. Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the spot and sent Real Madrid to the semi-finals for the 29th time in their history (W15 L13). However, they have won just three of their last eight ties in this stage. The 12-time European champions have won 149 UEFA Champions League matches – their next victory will make them the first team to 150. The Juventus defeat was only Madrid's third in their last 29 European fixtures, winning 20 and drawing six. Overall, their record in Germany is 6-19-7 – five of those wins coming in their last eight visits. Madrid's record in two-legged ties with German clubs in UEFA competitions is W17 L8.

This is the most common fixtures in the Champions League, with the two teams having met on 24 occasions prior ot this one (11-11-2). Without saying a lot more about this match-up, these are two of the best teams in the world right now, and it is highly likely that goals will fly.
