The other semi-final of the Europa League is between two very equal teams, as French side Marseille will play host to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. Marseille had to overcome another Red Bull side, Leipzig, in the previous round, and they did so majestically. Red Bull Salzburg are coming off a couple of really exciting and high-scoring matches against Lazio, but they prevailed.

Marseille were up against RB Leipzig in the previous round, and actually lost the first leg on the road by 0-1. However, the two teams were engaged in a really competitive and quite exciting match in the second leg in France, where Marseille won by 2-5 and eventually moved through. This is only Marseille's second two-legged tie against Austrian opposition, following a 1-0 aggregate win against Austria Wien in the 2003/04 Champions League third qualifying round. Marseille's record in six games against Austrian clubs is 2-2-2. At home it is 1-0-2. having not conceded in any of those three matches. Marseille have won seven of their eight European games at home this season, having scored 21 goals, conceding six, and keeping four clean sheets. Marseille have participated in five previous European semi-finals, losing the first two but having won each of their last three. Red Bull Salzburg stood really great in Italy in the previous round, despite losing to Lazio by 2-4. They scored twice, and were actually tied at 2-2 at one point. They took the tie at home, where they managed to win by 1-4 in the second leg, and moved on to the semi-finals for the first time in their history. Salzburg's six matches against French opponents have brought three wins, one draw and two defeats. Their away record is 1-1-1, keeping clean sheets in their last two visits. Salzburg were unbeaten in 19 European matches (11-0-8) until their quarter-final first-leg defeat away to Lazio. They have lost only two of their last 15 away fixtures in UEFA competition, winning seven.

The two teams were actually up against one another in the group stage of the Europa League earlier in the season, where Salzburg won by 0-1 at home before a goal-less draw in France. Both teams were engaged in goal-fests in the previous round, and looking at how the two have played so far, I wil go with the Over 2.5 Goals.
