Two teams that also met in the knock-out round, but earlier, last season will lock horns again, when Liverpool will play host to Porto on Tuesday. The two teams just beat Bayern Munich and Roma respectively in the round of 16 and are now through to the quarter-finals.

Liverpool thought they had it bad when they were stuck at a goal-less draw at home against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the round of 16. But they went on to destroy the German powerhouse by a solid 3-1 on the road and moved to the next round. Liverpool have been really good in two-legged ties against Portuguese opposition, winning six of eight. Porto fell on the road by 1-2 in the first leg against Roma, but that late away goal they scored was crucial. They went on to repeat the scoreline of the first leg, winning by 1-2 at home and sending the match to extra time where they eventually won. Porto are in this stage for the first time since 2003/04 where they actually won the trophy. Their record in two-legged ties is W3 L8 though, and they have lost the last five such ties.

Liverpool have an overall 3-0-3 record against FC Porto in all competitions. They are always dominant at home and should cover the spread in order to take a solid advantage. And I think that they will, but FC Porto might score as well in the process.
