Poland at Austria 3/21/19 - EURO Qualifiers Picks & Predictions

The international break is upon us and now the national teams will fight for a place in the 2022 EURO Cup. The two biggest favorites of Group G will lock horns on Thursday, when Austria will play host to Poland. Austria did a solid job in the UEFA Nations League, while Poland were relegated from their respective group.

Austria are coming off a pretty decent run in the inaugural UEFA Nations League, as they finished 2nd in their group at the second of four tiers. They were up against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Northern Ireland in that group and only lost to Bosnia & Herzegovina on the road. Their final record was a solid 2-1-1 but failing to beat Bosnia & Herzegovina cost them the top spot. Austria have some great players like West Ham’s Arnautovic and Bayern Munich’s Alaba and have proven to be quite solid. Poland did not have much success in the UEFA Nations League, finishing at the bottom of their group and relegating to the lower tier. To be fair, Poland were up against European Champions Portugal and powerhouse Italy in that group, but failed to win any of their four matches (0-2-2). Even so, both their away matches were 1-1 draws, which goes to show that they are not giving up easily. Spear-headed by Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, Poland will try to focus on feeding the big man up front.
