Philadelphia Union at Toronto FC 5/11/19 - MLS Picks & Predictions

Toronto FC met a bad loss in Atlanta on Thursday and didn’t even have a single shot on target. They have been really inconsistent lately but quite solid overall at home. There they will now host Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union on Saturday. Philadelphia are having a really strong season so far and are coming off a massive win.

Toronto FC (5-3-1) played a really bad match on the road against Atlanta United on Wednesday, failing to record a single shot on target and eventually losing by 0-2. That was their third loss in their last five, as they have won just two of their last six (2-3-1). Toronto FC are now sitting at the 4th spot of the Eastern Conference with 16 points, four behind the three tied teams above them. They have been quite solid at home so far (3-1-1), scoring 14 but conceding 9 in the process. Philadelphia Union (6-3-2) completely destroyed New England by a huge 1-6 at home last week, in a match that exploded in the second half. Philadelphia have now won back to back matches and three of their last four (3-0-1). They are enjoying a highly successful season so far and are still sitting at the top spot with 20 points. But they have just as many as DC United and Montreal below them. However, they have not had much luck on the road so far (1-2-2).

Toronto FC have been the total bosses of this match-up in recent years, as they are undefeated in the last 11 matches against Philadelphia (9-0-2). They have also been great as hosts over the years (7-2-3) and are also undefeated in the last six here (5-0-1). Philadelphia are great and all, but struggle a lot on the road, so I will have to go with the home team here, especially if Altidore plays.
