Panama are coming off their first ever World Cup but they didn’t do a very good job. Even so, it was great to see a smaller team make their debut in the biggest soccer event for national teams. Panama will now travel to Honduras, where they will be hosted by the local team on Friday night. The match will be played in the Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino in Tegucigalpa, and Honduras will try to please the fans.

Honduras did great in the last match of their World Cup qualifiers where they beat Mexico by 2-3 and entered the play-offs round. They were match with Australia for an inter-continental tie, where after a goal-less draw at home they lost by 1-3 in Australia and were eliminated. Since they they have played three friendly matches against South Korea, El Salvador and UAE, failing to win a single match and scoring just a single goal. They have now won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions (1-3-4). Panama were also pretty good in the World Cup qualifiers, where they won their last match against Costa Rica by 1-2 and left USA eliminated. Panama went straight to the World Cup group stage, and it was their first ever presence at that stage. They didn’t have an easy draw against Belgium, England and Tunisia, and started off with a tough loss against Belgium. They had already conceded 6 goals against England in their next match before scoring their first ever goal at the World Cup for a final 1-6. Panama took the lead against Tunisia in their last match but eventually fell by 1-2 and returned home with a ton of experience.
