Olympique Lyonnais vs. Stade Reims 11/29/20 - Ligue 1 Picks & Predictions

Lyon looks to keep their surge up the Ligue 1 table intact when hosting Stade Reims on Sunday. Lyon defeated Angers 1-0 in its most recent fixture, while Reims lost 1-0 to Nimes in its most recent outing. After starting slowly in the top-flight French league, Lyon is playing excellent football at the moment winning four of the last five matches played including an impressive 4-1 win in late October over Monaco.

In the last two matches played, Lyon defeated Saint-Etienne 2-1 followed by its 1-0 victory over Angers last week following a break for international play. Tino Kadewere scored his third goal in the last two matches to give Lyon the victory by the minimum. The club has gone eight consecutive matches without losing and are now third in the table and can focus 100% on domestic play as they are not in the Champions or Europa League unlike first and second place PSG and Lille.

Reims had started to show some signs of life in Ligue 1 but are very close to relegation zone just one point clear of Lorient, which sits in 18th place and three points clear of 19th place Strasbourg. Reims took seven points out of a possible nine versus Montepellier, Lens and Strasbourg, but came crashing back down with a loss last Sunday at home to Nimes. 

Reims’ record of recent versus Lyon gives the club optimism as Reims is unbeaten versus Lyon dating back to 2015 and Reims has won two of the last four versus Lyon in top-flight league play. Wout Faes will return for Reims from a suspension which will help the back line after sitting out against Nimes. Predrag Rajkovic is expected to return to goal for Reims after sitting out versus Nimes following International play with Serbia.
