Lyon are having a terrible start in the new season and they still haven’t won a single match after 3 attempts. They will now travel on the road for their next assignment, as they will be hosted by Nantes on Friday. Nantes did great in their first two matches of the season but are coming into this match off a loss on the road against Rennes.
Nantes (1-1-1) were not very good in their away match against Rennes last week and eventually lost that match by 1-0. They only had a single shot on target in the entire match and they were nowhere to be found in the second half. Even so, that was their first loss of the season after beating Metz by 2-0 and a 1-1 draw against Monaco in the opener. Nantes are now sitting at the 9th spot of the Ligue 1 with 4 points, scoring 3 and conceding just 2 goals in the process. Last season they were not that good at home (3-8-8), scoring 21 and conceding 29 goals in the process.
Lyon (0-2-1) are coming off a very frustrating 3-3 draw at home against Clermont. They actually took the lead at the 5th minute with a penalty kick and they were leading by 3-1 at the end of the first half. However, they were really pressured in the second half and conceded two late goals (80th and 91st minute) for the final 3-3 draw. Prior to that they lost badly to Angers by 3-0 on the road and they have not yet won a single match. Lyon are now sitting at the 16th spot of the Ligue 1 with 2 points, scoring 4 and conceding 7 goals in return. It looked like they would struggle up front since the departure of Depay, but it’s their defense that has been terrible so far.
