NYCFC at Orlando City 3/2/19 - MLS Picks & Predictions

Orlando City were simply tragic last season in the MLS and finished at the bottom of the Conference. This season they will be looking to do much better, especially after the addition of Portuguese winger Nani. They will start the season with a home match against NYCFC on Saturday. NYCFC did a solid job last season and reached the Conference finals.

Orlando City were unable to play any good soccer last season, which was a really bad one. The Florida side finished at the bottom of the Conference with just 8 wins in 34 matches (8-22-4). They even struggled at home, where they had the worst record in the whole Conference (6-7-4). Their matches produced a lot of goals, with 24 of their 34 featuring at least Over 2.5 Goals. Same goes for their home matches with 13 Over 2.5 Goals in 17 matches and 3.4 goals per match on average. NYCFC were really great last season and actually finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference (16-10-8). Both their offense (59 goals, 4th best) and their defense (45 conceded, 3rd best) were in tremendous shape, but things are slightly different this season. They lost David Villa who will continue in Japan, and NYCFC will have to get used to life without him. Last season they were mediocre at best on the road but had the 4th best record with just four wins (4-9-4).

NYCFC won by 2-0 in this venue when the two teams last met and have now won each of the last four against Orlando City. Orlando City have the upper hand as hosts over the years (3-2-1) and will fight really hard to avoid repeating last season’s mishaps.
