Two teams that had different levels of opposition in the previous round of the US Open Cup will now clash against one another, when DC United will host NYCFC on Wednesday. Their opponents took the lead at the 23rd minute of extra time but DC United scored twice in the last two minutes to win that tie. They are now undefeated in their last four (all draws) and have lost just two of their ten home matches in all competitions so far (4-2-4). NYCFC had a much easier job in the previous round, where they blasted North Carolina by a strong 0-4 at home. That was the third consecutive match they score at least twice (11 goals in that span), and they have done so in five of their last six matches. NYCFC are also on an 11-match undefeated run (6-0-5) keeping six clean sheets in that span. They have been really hard to beat on the road so far (3-1-4) and have only failed to score once.
