Two teams that fought toe to toe in the Eastern Conference for the entire season will now play against one another in the Eastern Conference Finals, when Atlanta United will play host to the NY Red Bulls on Sunday. Atlanta United did not make it to the Supporters’ Shield this season and will surely look for revenge against the Red Bulls here.

Atlanta United did a great job throughout the entire season but sadly lost in their last match of the regular season and missed a chance to grab the Supporters’ Shield. Even so, they were really great in both ends of the pitch. They had to play two very competitive matches against NYCFC in the previous round of the playoffs, where they won both. They scored the only goal of the match at the 37th minute and took a massive advantage back home. They were also great there, as they blasted their opponents by 1-3 and are now one step closer to the MLS finals. The NY Red Bulls got a nice gift in the last match-day of the regular season and eventually captured the Supporters’ Shield in an unexpected manner. They were also great in the previous round of the playoffs when they overcame Columbus Crew. But it didn’t come easy, as they were not very good in the first leg on the road. They struggled to create chances and eventually lost by 0-1. The Red Bulls were mediocre in the second leg at home, but took advantage of some mistakes by their opponents and also had a lot of luck, to eventually win that match by 0-3 and progress. The Red Bulls were really tough to beat on the road this season (8-6-4), but won just two of their last seven (2-2-3).
