Ireland will play host to British rivals Northern Ireland on Thursday in what will surely be a really competitive but friendly match. Both teams have been pretty weak in the UEFA Nations League so far and have not won a single match. Ireland are the better team here, but this is a regional rivalry and will produce a competitive match.

Ireland met another British team in the UEFA Nations League opener, but met a really bad 1-4 loss on the road against Wales. After that they played for a 1-1 draw on the road against Poland in a friendly match. And right after that they hosted Denmark for the 2nd match-day of the UEFA Nations League, where they held out for a goal-less draw. And in their most recent match they were actually pretty good at home against Wales but lost by 1-0. Ireland are now sitting last in their group with 1 point, Denmark has 4 and Wales are leading with 6.
Northern Ireland have also done a really poor job in the UEFA Nations League so far. They were actually really good in the opener at home against Bosnia & Herzegovina but ended up losing by 2-1. In their next match they played a really balanced game against Austria on the road but fell by 0-1. In their most recent match they traveled to Bosnia & Herzegovina where they lost by 0-2 in what was also a pretty balanced match. They are currently sitting dead last in their group with 0 points, with Austria having 3 and Bosnia & Herzegovina having 9.

Ireland have the upper hand against their opponents (5-2-4) and have also been great as hosts against Northern Ireland, losing just once in a friendly match (4-1-2). They have been the better team of the two in recent years, they have a stronger squad and they will play at home. This should be a fairly low-scoring match but I will go with the home team here.
