North Carolina at DC United 6/5/18 - US Open Cup Picks & Predictions

It is now time for the round of 32 of the US Open Cup, where all the MLS teams come into play. DC United are having a terrible season in the MLS so far, and they will look to shine in other competitions. They will now play host to USL side North Carolina on Wednesday, who might not be doing a good job in their respective league either, but they have been really strong in the US Open Cup so far.

DC United have been really bad in the MLS so far in the season, as they are stuck at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just 9 points after 10 matches (2-5-3). To be fair, they have played eight of those matches on the road (1-5-2), where they are traditionally weak. Their last match dates back to May 27th, where they played for a 1-1 draw on the road against LAFC. They have only played two matches at home so far in the season (1-0-1), where they held Houston to a 2-2 draw before defeating Columbus Crew by 0-1. North Carolina have not been very good in the USL either, where they are sitting at the 12th spot of the Eastern Conference with 11 points after 10 matches (3-5-2). They are coming off a tough 2-1 loss at home against Bethlehem, but that was just their second loss in their last nine matches in all competitions (5-2-2). That includes two matches in previous rounds of the US Open Cup, where they destroyed Lansdowne by 0-3 and Ocean City by 1-4 at home. They haven't been any good on the road so far (1-2-2) but have only failed to score once.
