Chicago Fire will look to have a better season than they did last year, where they finished just outside the playoffs. They will now start the season with a home match against New England on Saturday. New England had a highly successful season and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference finals.

Chicago Fire finished at the season at the 11th spot of the Eastern Conference and missed the playoffs by just 1 point. They could have made the playoffs but they didn’t win any of their last six matches of the season. Chicago had a 5-4-3 record at home last season, scoring 23 and conceded 18 goals in the process. They only kept three clean sheets in 12 matches at home, conceding 2 or more goals in 7 of those.

New England were not quite impressive in the regular season, finishing at the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference with 32 points and a 8-7-8 record. They beat Montreal by 2-1 at home in the first round of playoffs and then they overcame Philadelphia by 2-0 on the road. Beating Orlando in the Conference semi-finals brought them against Columbus in the Conference final, where they lost by 1-0. New England had the best away record in the Conference last season (6-4-3), scoring 16 and conceding 14 goals in the process.

New England beat Chicago by 2-1 in Chicago last season, after a 1-1 draw at home. However, that was just their second win in this venue (2-9-3). Looking at how these two have played against each other over the years, combined with the results of their friendlies, I am taking the Over 2.75 Goals here.
