San Jose are coming off a really disturbing loss against LAFC at home and saw their losing streak extend to five matches. They will now play host to New England on Wednesday, who have been in slightly better , but still mediocre form lately.
San Jose (2-9-3) will surely be feeling frustrated about the outcome of their home match against LAFC on Saturday. They took an early lead but found themselves down by 2-1 by the end of the first half. They did manage to take the lead with two goals by Wondolowski, but conceded two more goals in the stoppage time to finally lose by 4-3. That was their fifth consecutive loss in all competitions, and have won just once over the past three months. They are still sitting at the penultimate spot of the Western Conference with 9 points, having scored 22 goals against 29 conceded.
New England (6-4-5) played a really strong match on the road against Chicago on Saturday. Despite their dominance, they had to score a late goal in order to salvage a single point from that match. They have not been very bad lately, as they have lost just one of their last five matches in all competitions (1-1-3). New England are now sitting at the 5th spot of the Eastern Conference with 23 points. They haven’t been very strong on the road so far (1-2-3), where they have conceded multiple goals on five occasions.
