Montreal Impact at Orlando City SC 9/15/21 - MLS Picks & Predictions

Two teams that saw their unbeaten streaks come to an end last week will lock horns on Wednesday, when Orlando will play host to Montreal. Orlando City will return home after a tough loss to Atlanta United, while Montreal will go on the road after two consecutive matches at home.

Orlando (10-5-8) are coming into this match after a really bad 3-0 loss on the road against Atlanta United, in a match where they recorded just 2 shots on target. That loss came after a small 4-match unbeaten streak (2-0-2), and it was just their 2nd loss in their last 9 matches (3-2-4). Orlando are sitting at the 3rd spot of the Eastern Conference with 38 points, 3 points behind Nashville, having scored 33 goals and having conceded 29 so far. Orlando have been really solid at home (7-1-4), scoring 21 and conceding 9 goals, while going unbeaten in their last 6 MLS matches there.

Montreal (8-8-7) conceded the only goal of their home match against Nashville at the 66th minute and they were unable to respond, eventually losing by 1-0. That loss stopped their 4-match unbeaten streak (2-0-2), while it also proved that Montreal have been really inconsistent this season. They are now outside of the playoff spots, sitting at the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference with 31 points, as many as DC United above them (who are sitting inside the playoff spots). Montreal have been mediocre on the road so far (2-6-4), scoring 10 and conceding 14 goals.

The two teams met twice last season, and Orlando City won both matches by the exact same 1-0 scoreline. They are in much better shape and much more stable than Montreal this season, and they should be able to overcome a struggling Montreal side here.
