DC United fell short in the battle of the Conferences against LAFC and actually met a really bad defeat in the process. They are no longer the best team in the MLS and will now look to bounce back with a home match against Montreal on Tuesday. Montreal split the points in New York and have not been very stable overall.

DC United (3-1-1) are coming off a devastating 4-0 loss at home against Western Conference leaders LAFC. Things quickly took a turn for the worse and LAFC were already leading by thee goals at the 32nd minute. Rooney was ejected at the start of the second half and it was over. DC United are currently 3rd in the Eastern Conference with 10 points but that was a wake-up call for them. Montreal Impact (2-2-1) should be feeling lucky they escaped New York with a point after a goal-less draw against NYCFC. Their opponents were clearly the better team in the pitch but Montreal somehow managed to keep the clean sheet with five goalkeeper saves. Montreal are sitting inside the playoff spots, at the 7th spot of the Eastern Conference, with 7 points.
